We all know moving can be traumatic. It is hard. I should know. Making friends for some in a new place can be tough. Other kids adjust quickly to all the changes and make friends easily. All the changes can be tough and friends normally take long. I have been looking into this a bit lately due to our recent move and what our *sniff* sweet kids are going through.

1. Friends take time. Give it some time, continually work on friendships. Relax knowing that time is one of the most important aspects of making friends in a new place. Do not make a big deal about this, it is not a huge problem unless you make it one.

2. Spend time on the playground. Talk to other moms, and get to know them allowing your child to spend time with the other kid on the playground or around you. This is an awesome thing because it gives you a chance to make a great friend as well!

3. Be the role model. Carrying over from the item above, make friends. Show your children how to make friends. Show them that it takes time, and it takes effort.

4. Provide more activities. Kids often do well when put in sports programs or clubs that they may be interested in. Programs such as soccer, swimming, gymnastics, and church clubs such as Awanas or Pioneer Club. Also invite other children over that you have met while you spend your time on the playground. Have them over for some pizza, or a party. Invite more than one if you can.

Take these steps, and dont panic. Set the example and take the time. You are the role model exhibit good friend making activity and build your child up. Do these 4 steps and your child will be on the right path.
