Washington DC is Full of Crap

Author: Lance Winslow

As we hear of the new 2007 FY Federal Budget we hear things like NASA loses divisions to the budget axe or Department of Homeland Security wins big with 42.7 Billion in funding. We hear about this agency or the other and how they won or lost.

Personally I think it is appalling to believe that any of this means anything. Oh sure it means something to the bureaucrats in the various agencies and how they have pandered to the politicians who pandered to the lobbyists who work for the K-Street Law Firms, but may I ask how that helps you or I.

We, the people own our government and they seem to have forgotten this fact. It is not about us any more it is about winning or losing a bigger share of our tax dollar or those monies borrowed into the system that we in the future will have to pay for.

I propose we talk a whole lot less about the winners and losers in the blob of bureaucracy and start talking about bang for our buck, service to the people and performance. You know performance, ever hear of it?

It seems when any agency messes up or cannot fulfill their Obligations to the American People, they complain and say, well we need more money? Bull, what they need is a swift kick in their backside that is what they need.

As the business community has to provide for efficient operations or go out of business, wouldnt it be nice to see these government agencies work to streamline and do more with less and not be rewarded for piss poor performance with more of our money? When are we going to downsize these inefficient cluster mucks of bureaucracy? Consider this in 2006.
