Depending where you live and what your social background is money can have either a feeling of self-satisfaction about it or it can be a necessary commodity. In our world today there are little scruples about many things in life. The area that interests me most is Spirituality. I read the press with a degree of sadness when I see the so called Witch Doctors or White Witches that offer to cast spells to make lovers return or to remove curses. Many of the things these people offer, are questionable to say the least. Not that I do not agree that it is possible to be cursed or to have a curse removed, what I do disagree with is the rationale behind it and the exorbitant fee being charged for it. The same goes for Clairvoyant and Tarot reading. I do not feel it is wrong to charge for your time but charge within reason. As a life-long Clairvoyant, I spent around 18 years not charging a penny for readings, doing them because I felt my gift was bestowed on me to share with others not to gain from. I carried on quite happily on this premise until a rather dramatic shift within my life occurred. I had lost my job due to the illness of a family member and after a while began scouting around for more work. I did not have a problem finding the work but never managed to remain in a position for any length of time. There were various reasons for this, either family commitments came into play, jobs were not what they seemed and so on. I decided a career change was necessary and trained in another industry. Again, various things happened to prevent me from furthering this and so it went on like this. I even swapped direction again and trained in another area, feeling that perhaps I had got it wrong in my chosen career. Friends began to say that I could not stay in a job because it was my destiny to be a full-time Medium. I did not take them seriously for a long time. Although I did begin to delve further into the mechanics of mediumship, the understanding of it. The thirst was never quenched, the questions although answered, only raised further questions and so I was on my Quest without even realising it. Even if you are a born medium you are not knowledgeable in all aspects of the subject and need a level of tutoring. My partner, who is not a Spiritualist or a medium, has been very supportive in my work and studies. He understands that I need to fulfil my desire to work to the best of my ability for Spirit and he is a strong driving force in my studies. In fact it were he that finally said, OK, do it, give yourself over to this work professionally and see what happens. I spent many sleepless nights asking Spirit were I right to charge or would I become like so many of the others with material gains as my sole desire? A very good friend of mine, Monika Key, who is an Intuitive Life Coach gave me the final push I needed. We had a session swap, she coached me and I read for her. Monika and I had met through our Holistic Healing Diploma and we knew that we were both committed to our work through thick and thin. Monika said to me, quiet patiently, The ability you have has not been given to you to keep for yourself, it has been given to you by Spirit because they feel that you are responsible enough to use it wisely and work with it for them. If you do not use it to help others then you yourself will not be fulfilled. If you consider that charging for your time is what you are doing rather than charging for your gift, you will not go far wrong. From that point on I have worked professionally as a medium because now I realise that Spirit know I have to eat. |
