How To Raise Your Affiliate Power - Part 2

Author: Scott Price

Let's assume you've taken heed of Part 1 and chosen your affiliate associations wisely. You've got one or more products you're promoting that are not only quality but you yourself feel great about personally recommending to every Tom, Dick, and Jane that stumbles across your referral link.

The next step is to organize your promotion efforts. If you're not already familiar with how to market, promote, and advertise (both online and off), then you need to educate yourself right away.

Here's a quick list of the areas in which you should expand your expertise...

- placing ezine ads (in order of priority: solo, sponsor, classified)

- placing classifed ads (in specific locations and categories)

- writing articles (linking subject matter to a particular product)

- producing your own newsletter (with quality content and/or tips)

- distributing reports/ebooks/ecourses (containing your affiliate link)

It's only natural to look for a shortcut, a way of reaching the ultimate goal without investing too much time and effort. But that's NOT going to happen. Everyone who has ever succeeded online has had to educate themselves in whatever area they've chosen.

There's no shortcut. There's no magic pill. You either get on board and learn whatever is necessary or you spend the rest of your time stumbling around in the dark. And worse, wondering why on earth you can't succeed like others have done.

Super affiliates (those who gain the highest level of results) aren't born. They're made. More specifically, they're SELF-made. No matter how much you'd like to think it might be possible, no one can snap their fingers and *poof* they're a super affiliate, someone who suddenly kicks butt when it comes to referral sales.

You know the saying, you have to crawl before you can walk, walk before you can run. The same thing applies to becoming a top notch affiliate. The first thing you need to do is learn the basics. In other words, fully educate yourself on the best methods of promotion.

And that doesn't mean simply being aware of the different options that are available. It's about understanding the types of promotion you're going to be using as well as knowing how to implement them.

After that, it will most likely be a matter of trial and error, experimenting a bit, or simply honing a particular promotion method until you've got it down pat. Regardless, you need to invest whatever time and effort it takes to get good at what you're doing.

Then, once you become educated in the best methods of promoting your referral link and you're clear on how you intend to use them, you need to determine exactly what it will take to make your offer stand head and shoulders above all the other affiliates.

After all, you're certainly not the only one promoting that ebook, software product, or money program. However... you can be the one who generates most of the sales simply up offering something different, something unique (over and above the actual product).

Following are several possibilities you might consider:

- include one or more additional quality ebooks or software products at no extra charge

- give buyers a rebate of "x" amount of dollars

- throw in a service to go along with the primary product (based on the type of business you operate or your area of expertise)

- give them a sponsor/solo ad in your newsletter

- give them free banner advertising on your website

- allow for free entry (or their first month free) into your own paid membership area

- provide assistance in getting their own promotion efforts off to a flying start

Use your imagination here. Anything you add can possibly be the difference between a purchase and a pass. The point is to make your own affiliate deal better (more valuable) than what the primary product or offer has available.
